Kolkata, 25 August: Mr Mukul Roy, the Trinamul Congress all-India general secretary, said today that the people of the Hills are gradually losing faith in Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha (GJMM) chief Bimal Gurung.
He said that the people of the Hills are for peace and development, and that those who are trying to create disturbance in the Hills will soon be alienated from the people. “I feel that the people of the the Hills are gradually losing faith in Bimal Gurung,” Mr Roy said.
Mr Roy, however, declined to respond to Mr Gurung’s demand of the release of GJMM activists before the meeting of GTA. He said that its the state government’s duty to look after the GTA and as a political leader he cannot comment on it.
Meanwhile, 15,000 Congressmen from Chopra Assembly segment of North Dinajpur, once a stronghold of the Congress, today joined the TMC.(SNS)
