Cong leaders hold meet in Darjeeling

Dawa Norbula
Darjeeling, 17 November
The Cong leaders in Darjeeling Hills today held a meeting in Darjeeling led by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) member, Mr Dawa Norbula along with other senior leaders of the Hills-based unit.
Besides, around 50 leaders of the party from the three Hills sub-division in Darjeeling attended the meeting, according to the party source.
“I wanted to check whether our old supporters were still with us, I’m fascinated to see them all,” said Mr Narbula.
Speaking about the meeting, he said: “Today we have officially revived the party's Hills unit. We will further hold such meetings and start working to strengthen the unit. It has become the need of the hour to stand against the misuse of power by the Trinamul Congress and their tyrannical rule.”
“We will also start spreading messages to the people about the work done by the UPA government in the past years and how the
Hills has benefited and will further benefit,” said Mr Norbula.
“We condemn the biasness of the administration in terms of providing NOC to the party to hold public meetings and other political programmes,” he said.
“They provide NOC to the party, they feel like. Every party should be given NOC’s to hold political programmes,”Mr Narbula added.
When asked about the party’s view for the upcoming MP election, Mr Norbula said: “We have not yet
discussed about it. However, we demand a local candidature.”(SNS)
