Darjeeling - 60 year old sentenced to 2-years imprisonment
Darjeeling,23 Dec 2013: The Additional Session’s 3rd court in Darjeeling sentenced a sixty year old man to two years of imprisonment finding him guilty of outraging the modesty of a minor girl. Judge Swadesh Ranjan Roy sentenced Tilak Mangar of Magar Gaon near Salu Tea Garden about 15 km from Darjeeling town, to judicial custody.

“Mangar was arrested on August 20, 2012 following a complaint filed by the father of the minor girl aged around seven years old. In the complaint the minor girl’s father had alleged that on August 19, 2012 when he was away for work along with his wife, Mangar lured his daughter and outraged her modesty,” said public prosecutor Pranay Rai. The PP said Mangar even gave the minor girl ten rupees and asked her not to talk about the incident to anyone. However the seven year old narrated the incident to neighbours who then retold it to the victim’s parents. (EOIC)
