KALIMPONG,16 Dec 2013: Kalimpong police today arrested a three member gang from Shanti Nagar under Saipatri Gaon for allegedly robbing a house belonging to one Hema Chettri earlier on December 11. The police have recovered 10 tolas gold, cash and a mobile phone from Sita Chettri (30), Sudip Chettri (26) and Arjun Singh. The police claimed the arrested had changed the SIM card to use the phone following which the police were able to track them down through the phone’s IMEI number. The accused have been booked under section 380/411 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and were presented before the Kalimpong court today. (EOIC)
Accident claims one, injures another
KALIMPONG,16 Dec 2013: A vehicle bearing registration number WB/ 72/B/1223 met with a tragic accident near 12 mile, Kalimpong this morning claiming the life of the driver Man Bahadur Rai (38). The accident occurred soon after the vehicle had left for 13 mile from the Kalimpong taxi stand.
Purna Bahadur Chetri (42) who was injured in the accident narrated that the vehicle had a head on collision with another vehicle which was coming from the opposite direction and moving uphill. The driver of the other vehicle reportedly lost control following the impact and fell into 30 feet drain, he escaped without any injuries. (EOIC)
