Mukesh Sharma: Kalimpong Municipality gets it new president that too a Lady for the First time in the History of Kalimpong on the New Year eve .The meeting of all the Councillor of Kalimpong Municipality area was conveyed at Darjeeling GJM office at patleybash by GTA Chief Bimal Gurung who declared the name of news Chairman and Vice chairman. The post of Kalimpong Municipality chairman laid vacant due to the death of its chairman L.B.Pariyar Last month after a prolong illness. In the absence of Late Pariyar , VC Ganga Maya Gurung look over the affair from the last three month and so after which today the meeting finalized the name of Gurung as the New Chairman and the new Vice Chairman will be Zion Lepcha who replaces Gurung. Ganga Maya Gurung a retired court clerk was elected as Vice Chairman after 2011 Municipal polls . According to a Kalimpong municipal source , A Board meeting will be held on 2 January and will take a resolution to officially finalize the names declared today.
