As
many as 110 persons today benefited from a free eye screening camp
organised at the RPF Barrack hall by Siliguri-based Kanchanjunga Uddhar Kendra and Childline Kurseong sub-centre in association with the
Siliguri Greater Lions’ Eye Hospital.
Childline Kurseong coordinator Gyanendra G Sharma said NFR Kurseong offered the hall near the Kurseong Railway Station for the camp. He informed a large number of people from various places under Kurseong sub-division made the most of the opportunity at the free eye screening programme.
Dr Sailen Manna and three other members of the Siliguri Greater Lions’ Club were present at the camp to offer their services.
Sharma said patients were provided with medicines and spectacles at very reasonable rates and 14 people were identified with cataract. Eight of them have been taken to Siliguri Greater Lions’ Hospital where they will be operated free of charge. The remaining six patients will get operated at a later date, added Sharma. (EOIC)
