The two-day nationwide bank shutdown called by the Bank Union demanding increase in the salaries of employees had its desired effect in Kalimpong as it did across the country.
All banks remained closed today after Sunday’s announcement by the Bank Union to press on with its demand. Kalimpong residents faced a lot of trouble as most of them were unaware of the strike and had queued outside the banks in town as usual. Even the ATMs remained closed adding to the difficulties of the people.(EOI)
