Speeding up the election campaign for
BJP’s Alipurduwar candidate Birendra Bara, the Kalchini branch committee
of GJM today held a workers meeting at the party office here.
Addressing the gathering GJM leader Ashok Lama appealed the people to
vote for Bara, while also urging all the supporters and leaders to
maintain discipline and abide by the model code of conduct. He also said
as soon as the regional unit forms booth committees, they will be
entrusted with the responsibility of conducting door-to-door campaigns.
BJP candidate Birendra Bara, who reached
the GJM party office halfway during the meeting, was given a warm
welcome by the party leaders and supporters. Appealing people to vote
for him, Bara launched attacks on sitting MP Manohar Tirke saying the
latter did nothing to uplift the economic situation of the region even
though he occupied the Alipurduar LS seat for many years.
Bara promised to do his utmost to
resolve the problems being faced by the tea gardens workers along with
launching various development activities in the region if elected to the
Parliament. Stating the entire nation is in BJP’s sway, he expressed
confidence in the saffron party coming to power at the centre as well as
in the Alipurduwar constituency.
It has been learnt the BJP will organize
a mass rally in Alipurduar during the second week of April. Today’s
meeting was also addressed by GJM local leaders Bishal Lama, Arpan
Chamling, Rajesh Sharma, Nepal Burman and Kumar Lama.(EOIC)
