Siliguri, March 12: Undergraduate
examinations in all 57 colleges affiliated to North Bengal University
have been rescheduled and the tests would be held after the Lok Sabha
elections.
Sushanta Das,
controller of examinations in NBU, said the undergraduate exams will
begin on May 21 and end on July 11 (see chart).
According to the earlier schedule, the exams were to start from April 1 and end on May 25.
Several college premises would be used for the electoral process.
The Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Darjeeling seats will vote on April 17.
Das said the
university had requested the district magistrates of Darjeeling,
Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and North Dinajpur to allow them to use the
colleges between April 1 and 10 so that they could conduct the exams for
some of the honours papers.
“But they (the
district magistrates) have expressed inconvenience, saying the colleges
have to be requisitioned without delay for the elections,” Das said.
“Although the poll
process will be over by May 16, we have scheduled the exams from May 21
because the colleges need some time to come back to normalcy,” he
added.
The undergraduate practical exams would begin on June 9 and end on August 9.
“The results will be out around 52 days after the last exam on August 9,” Das said.
