Subash Ghising’s character exposed - Mirik GJM

Unhappy over the GNLF’s declaration to support the TMC in the upcoming LS elections, GJM Mirik block president Phubi Rai has lambasted the party and its chief Subash Ghising saying the decision has generated frustration within the GNLF rank and file. He said Ghising had led a violent statehood movement during the 1980s that left 1,200 people dead, but he committed a blunder by signing the DGHC accord. He said Ghising has once again thrown the Gorkha community into darkness by supporting the TMC in the LS polls.
Phubi Rai said the decision has “exposed Ghising’s character” and added it has also disgruntled the pro-Gorkhaland group within the GNLF saying they may opt to vote for pro-Gorkhaland candidates. “We are only demanding Gorkhaland and likewise will support the party that is ready to give us our state. But Ghising, who has been reiterating the rhetoric that Gorkhaland is possible through Sixth Schedule, is merely misleading the people,” Rai claimed. “Who is committed to the cause of Gorkhaland, the GJM or the GNLF, which has joined hands with the anti-Gorkhaland party?” he questioned.
On the other hand, the TMC is cheerful after Ghising’s declaration. Hill TMC Mirik block secretary Anil Chettri has called the decision “well-timed” and claimed Bhaichung Bhuita’s victory is certain.(EOIC)
