Trinamool Congress Darjeeling candidate
Bhaichung Bhutia today held his last campaign ahead of the Lok Sabha
Elections. He was in Panighatta Tarai area today where he urged the
people to vote for his party to bring peace and development in the
region.
Bhaichung said, “I would like to be
known for my work in the next five years if I get elected to Parliament.
I will work with honesty and transparency for the overall development
of the hills.”
TMC leader Binny Sharma claimed
Bhaichung’s victory in the LS election is definite. “I urge the people
to vote for “Grass Flower” on April 17 and help him win the elections by
a huge margin.” Sharma went on to slam the GJM for misleading the
people of the hills in the name of Gorkhaland. “GJM is again trying to
gain voters trust in the name of a separate state, when everyone has
already seen what happened after the last elections. People should not
trust GJM and BJP as they only make false promises and forget them after
the elections,” he added.
Referring to the BJP manifesto, Sharma
questioned, “The manifesto does not even have the ‘G’ of Gorkhaland
mentioned in any of the pages, so how can they claim about forming the
separate state?” He further said none of the GJM leaders, including
Bimal Gurung, HB Chettri and others, spoke when BJP called Gorkhas as
watchmen. “They have no respect for the sentiments or pride of Gorkha
community, thus the people should refrain from voting for the Lotus
symbol,” he added.(EOIC)
