Sikkim CM Pawan Chamling to attend global summit in Colombia

Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has been invited by the Colombian Government to attend the 6th World Regional Governments’ Summit from September 1 to 3.
The Summit will be held at Cartagena de Indias city, which has been accorded a world heritage site status by the UNESCO.
“I am indeed pleased to receive the invitation from Colombia, the South American nation, for the ‘VI World Regional Governments’ Summit’ in Cartagena de Indias’, announced Chamling today.
The summit is aimed at strengthening ties with the international audience by duly ensuring recognition of the role of sub-national governments in the implementation of governance and global policies. The summit holds great significance due to the impact it will have on the global development agenda.
Chamling will be sharing his experience and vision of sub-national governments at this global platform on three critical agenda:
a. The Regions and their role in the Goals for Sustainable Development Post 2015.
b. Contemporary Challenges in Decentralisation and Regional Autonomy.
c. Integral Regional Development.
“I thank the Organization of Regions United/Forum of Regional Governments and Global Associations of Regions (ORU/FOGAR) in Colombia for this honour, which is indeed a great opportunity for us to showcase one of the most dynamic and fastest growing states of India and also share our democratic development that has taken over autocratic agenda in this landlocked state for more than two decades,” added Chamling.(EOIC)
