In a span of three days, once again, a major accident has occurred on Rohini road under Kurseong sub division area, today.
A Darjeeling bound Bolero vehicle met
with an accident and first collided head-on with a downward moving
Spacio vehicle, and then fell down around 25 feet down below the road
into the valley.
With the help of locals and passer-by
all the ten passengers along with the driver was rescued and sent to the
Kurseong Sub Divisional Hospital where after primary treatment three
of them were admitted to the hospital itself while one was sent to the
Darjeeling Sadar Hospital. The rest of the persons after getting medical
aid were discharged.
As per some people even though the
Rohini Road is a good one but to avoid such kind of frequent accidents
several strict security measures have to be taken by the concerned
authorities. At several places along the way on Rohini Road three are
need for parapets as in accident site there were no such parapets
constructed.
Some people also claimed that the way in
which the Rohini Road has been collecting toll taxes, an ambulance must
be bought and deployed on Rohini Road as at different places in the
country where toll tax are raised there is also an ambulance service
ready at hand to help and rescue accident victims. As per them the
several injured in today’s accident were not helped by some passing
vehicles as they did not want to take them on board.
Notably on September 9, a major accident
had also occurred along the route on Rohini Road in which a recovery
van that had brake failed first hit two vehicles and bumped down several
feet down the valley slope along with an Innova van that it had been
carrying on the way to Siliguri.(EOI)
