Vishwa Bharti, Shantiniketan incident - Mourn rally organised in Kurseong

Demanding, the inclusion of all the three hills MLAs, Darjeeling MP and concerned MLA, MP of Sikkim in the recent formed ‘fact finding committee’, on the Vishwa Bharti, Shantiniketan recent incident, a huge mourn rally was organized in the premises of Kurseong town today under the banner of the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha, (GJMM) student wing, Vidhayarthi Morcha.

During the rally, a large number of students from different schools in Kurseong participated. The rally was started from Kurseong Tourist Lodge to Kurseong SDO office, where a deputation was also served to the Kurseong Sub Divisional Magistrate, regarding their demands.

Talking to the reporters, the Vidhyarthi Morcha, central committee member, Biswa Gurung said that they don’t believe that a proper report will be given to us over the Shantiniketan incident under the present fact finding committee. He also added that we believe that the present committee will only deliver a biased report. He felt that according to his knowledge the members in the fact finding committee and the authorities of Shantiniketan are hand in glove. Hence, we want the inclusion of all the three hills MLAs, Darjeeling MP and concerned MLAs, MP of Sikkim in such a ‘fact finding committee’, so that justice can be delivered to the victim.

Besides this, we also want a North East Cell in Kolkata like the one in Delhi. He further informed that for the security and the guidance of all the northeast students a north east cell was formed there in Delhi, hence, we want the same kind of cell there in Kolkata, so that all the northeast students could feel secure.

Notably recently a student girl studing in Shantiniketan and hailing from Sikkim had been seduced in the premises of Shantiniketan. Protest against the incident has been wide spread across Bengal and Sikkim.
