The GJM delegation which is currently in Delhi, led by Bimal Gurung and other Central Committee members Roshan Giri, Binoy Tamang, Anit Thapa, Arun Sigchi, Nima Tamang and Phubi Rai had gone to visit Shri Subash Ghising at Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi, but they were unable to meet Mr. Ghising in person.
His son Mr. Mohan Ghising reportedly informed the GJM team that Mr. Ghising’s condition was critical and that he was not in a position to talk, or meet with visitors.
The GJM had to return without meeting Mr. Ghising who once ruled the hearts and minds of people in Darjeeling.
Reacting to the incident, Bimal Gurung has said that, “I along with my party have no ill-feelings for the GNLF leader and do not consider him as an adversary… I consider it my duty and an obligation to pay my regards to the ailing leader on humanitarian ground.”
He has further said that, “I offered his son all assistance in regards to the expenses that is incurred towards his treatment… and I wish him a smooth recovery and will keep him in our prayers.”
As a parting gesture of goodwill Bimal added, “Time has come in Darjeeling that we rise above petty politics for the greater cause of Gorkhaland.”
We wish Mr. Subash Ghising an early recovery.
