Members and supporters of the Darjeeling Dooars United Development Foundation (DDUDF) are an elated lot after their chief, Mahendra P Lama, was invited by the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad to speak during the ‘Global Conference on Narratives of National Security’ on 25-26 November at Islamabad in Pakistan.
DDUDF activitist Bhusan Chettri said that not only the country, but the whole world respects Mr Lama, “as he always has security and development of the country in his mind.”
“Not only that, he has vast knowledge of the world and the region at large, and he is counted upon as an expert by countries the world over,” he said.
“Hence, it is only through Mr Lama that the Gorkha people will finally find their destiny on different aspects,” Mr Chettri added. He, however, lamented: “Despite this fact, it is unfortunate that although the country as a whole and the world has come to appreciate the value of being Mahendra P Lama, his very own people are not aware of who he is.”
