The Darjeeling Salamander Circuit has thanked the tourism board of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration the for supporting the three-day Himalayan Tourism Festival and Rural Tourism Bazaar held at Salt Lake City, Kolkata.
Mirik Salamander Circuit coordinator Ashwani Tamang told reporters at the Mirik Press Club that the historical orange festival was a major success and a milestone achieved by the four major rural circuits of the GTA region.
He said months of hard work and planning have paid off and the circuits attribute the success to the support extended by the GTA tourism department. “It has long been felt that lack of adequate promotion of rural destinations has remained a deterrent to tourism here. The circuits, having the opportunity to be part of such a fest, would like to thank ACT and the GTA tourism department for extending their support, said Sanjeev Thapa and Kalyan Khambu Rai, who will represent Mirik. They also thanked Raj Basu, convener of Help Tourism, and ACT for giving such a wonderful platform to showcase the beauty of the hills.(EOIC)
