The slogan ‘Our daughters, our pride’ has become relevant yet again with Sunita Rai and Trishala Gurung of Darjeeling being selected in ‘India’s 1st All Female NCC Expedition Team to Mt. Everest’. Both are students of Southfield College (formerly Loreto college), Darjeeling. Trishala is a 2nd Year Geography (Hons) student, while Sunita is in her 1st Year BA programme. The duo was part of the 10 member team that successfully scaled the 16,800ft Mt. Renak. The Everest team has been selected from 40 candidates from across the country, and of the total 10 selected, one is from Mirik, two are from Sikkim, while Darjeeling is being represented by Sunita and Trishala.
