All India Gorkha Ex-servicemen welfare association meeting in Dehradun

Dehradun: All India Gorkha Ex-servicemen welfare association held its annual meeting on November 25 and 26 to discuss prospects to uplift the socio-economic status of the community. Delegates from 10 associations across the country participated in the meeting which is being every year since 1950. This was the 70th edition of the meeting.


“The main aim behind the association is to look after the welfare of the Gorkha ex-servicemen as well as their families. We use our funds to give scholarship to the children and we help them in furthering their economic as well educational status. The headquarters of the association is in Dehradun but we have these meetings in other places also. We have our centres in Shillong, Darjeeling and other places as well. We also serve as a liaison between the Gorkhas and the government”, said Maj(retd) V S Thapa, president of the association.(TOI)
