Gangtok: The Sikkim Government on Thursday decided to
implement the Fifth pay commission with retrospective effect from
January 1, 2016, and not January 1, 2017, as it had earlier announced.
The
decision will benefit about 80,000 government employees, both permanent
and temporary. The association of employees and opposition parties had
been demanding that the pay panel report be implemented from January, 1,
2016.
