Jalpaiguri: A helicopter carrying Gorkha Rifles
Naik Rajib Thapa’s remains landed on the football ground at Mechpara
tea estate on Sunday morning, two days after he was killed along the
LoC.
Thousands waiting outside chanted ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Pakistan Murdabad’. Rajib’s mother Reena said: “My son laid down his life for the country. I will not cry. I will bid him goodbye with a smile as I had done when he joined the Army. He was a brave son of this country and weeping at his demise would be disrespecting him.”
