CM to Siliguri min: Take care of Covid+ minorsSiliguri: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee instructed state tourism minister Gautam Deb to look after the minor daughters of the 38-year-old schoolteacher, who had died of Covid-19 on July 7.
The two minor daughters tested Covid positive on Thursday. Their mother, however, tested negative. Deb, along with Darjeeling district magistrate Ponnambalam S and SDO Sumanta Sahay, visited the bereaved family at NBMCH and enquired about their condition. The minister further assured that the state government will stand beside them for their treatment and other requirements.
“Chief minister Mamata Banerjee asked me to take care of the family over a telephone conversation. The state government will help the family with their treatment. We will make sure the family members do not face any problems during such unprecedented times,” said Deb. “The mother has suffered a head injury, her CT scan was done at a Dr Chang’s nursing home on Wednesday. A medical team comprising an orthopaedic and general surgeon will be constituted for the treatment of the three family members. The two minor daughters tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday,” said Deb.
