Sikkim Agriculture & Horticulture Departments closed after employee tests positive for COVID-19

The head office of the Agriculture & Horticulture Department in Gangtok will remain closed for a week till July 25 after a female resident of the women’s hostel in Deorali tested positive for COVID-19.

The case was detected at the Agriculture Department and authorities have informed that all primary contacts are being traced and tested.

Meanwhile, the department issued an order that all officers and staff should be under strict home quarantine until further notice.

Individuals who came into contact with the positive person have been directed to contact the Additional Secretary.

According to sources, the person who tested positive for COVID-19 was working as a computer operator in the head office of the Agriculture Department.

Sources also stated that the individual attended a funeral in the border town of Rangpo in East Sikkim.
