Supported by Trinamool GJM obstructing Left campaign:CPI(M)

Kolkata, Apr 12: The CPI(M) alleged that the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) was intimidating and obstructing the Left campaign in the Darjeeling hills.

" GJM chief Bimal Gurung has directly issued a threatening against election campaign of Left candidates in the hill areas, and we shall inform this to the Election Commission," senior CPI(M) leader Rabin Deb said.
He alleged that the GJM, spearheading a statehood movement for Darjeeling hills and a portion of the foothills, was receiving support from the Trinamool Congress, which was bent on creating violence in the state before Assembly elections.

The CPI(M) leader alleged that when Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee had attended a Railway programme at Darjeeling, she held a meeting with a GJM delegation and assured them of her help to get their demand for a separate state fulfilled." The Trinamool Congress is supporting the forces who are trying to divide Bengal. That is why the GJM is supporting the Trinamool Congress, Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming polls while preventing us from campaigning in favour of our candidates," he said..Mr Deb said his party demanded free and fair polling in the elections.
