Miss Sikkim 2012 Contestants Led Cleanliness Drive at MG Marg

GANGTOK, February 23:“Beauty with brain”, proving the idiom right, contestants of Miss Sikkim 2012 today initiated a cleanliness drive. What came as message to Sikkimese people to keep their city green and clean, contestants swept the downtown MG Marg. “If these girls could do this, why not common people come forward to do so”, MD, Organizing Committee Raj Pradhan said .In this regard, a press conference was held today at capital. Addressing the media, Pradhan insisted that everyone should come forward to keep their city clean and green. The message, thus, will be passed on to the society. He further mentioned that the final round of Miss Sikkim 2012 is scheduled to be held in Hotel May fair on February 24.“The contest is now getting positive comments from almost everyone. There are many beautiful girls in state who can win the crown of Miss Sikkim, but due to society’s perception and common understanding, they are reluctant to participate. But there should be candidness as this platform will not only give them exposure, but it will also boost up their confidence level and skills. Winner of the contest will also get a chance to participating in the Miss Femina East next year.Pradhan further mentioned that all the participants are experiencing a rich taste of professional life. CKIM travel group is organizing the event for the first time. They will give opportunity and platform to Miss Sikkim and she will be representing Travel Agent Association of Sikkim (TAAS) as their brand Ambassador.He further informed that there are 29 contestants participating in the said event. All of them are from Gangtok and its surrounding areas. Though they all are immensely talented, but due to lack of proper platform and exposure, they were lagging behind till today.The winner of ‘Miss Sikkim’ will get a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/, first runner up will get 15.000/, while second runner up will be getting Rs.7000/ as prize money. The organizing committee has offered tickets for spectators in three categories which will be available in hotel May fair on February 24.
