In a counter to the GJM which has rejected the recommendation to allow inclusion of five mouzas in the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, the ABAVP today demanded return of 18 land areas included in the previous Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council.
"We have already written to the West Bengal government to return the 18 land areas which are already included in the DGHC," Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Vikash Parishad leader Rajesh Lakra told PTI from Malbazar in Jalpaiguri after a meeting.
He said the meeting left it to the ABAVP's regional units in Terai and Dooars to decide on the West Bengal government- appointed expert committee's recommendation of inclusion of five mouzas as against the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha's demand for 398 mouzas.

"Today we did not take any decision. We left it to the regional units in Terai and Dooars," Lakra said. He said that today's meeting was primarily called in connection with the death anniversary of prominent adivasi leader Birsa Munda.
ABAVP leader Birsa Tirkey has already welcomed the Justice (retd) Shyamal Sen Committee's recommendations on inclusion of five mouzas in the plains in the GTA.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee yesterday asked the GJM to accept the report of the high-powered committee, pointing out that all parties concerned had agreed to accept it.
The GJM rejected the recommendation, describing it as "biased and insulting" and threatened a renewed stir in the Darjeeling hills.
The Hill Council has jurisdiction over three hill sub- divisions of Darjeeling district -- Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong.
Making public the report of the committee, state Chief Secretary Ghosh told reporters that the recommendations had been made on the basis of "homogeneity, contiguity, compactness and ground-level situation of the mouzas."
