KOLKATA, 28 JUNE: The number of faulty applications submitted for the
School Service Commission examination has exceeded 4,000 this time. The
West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) is arranging for a special
online drive so that the faults can be rectified.
Applicants would be able to check the status of their applications from tomorrow on westbengalssc.com
“We want maximum candidates to sit for the examination,” said Prof. Chittaranjan Mondal, chairman, WBSSC. The examination is scheduled for 29 July.
Over 7,00,000 candidates applied for 55,000 posts of assistant teachers. While over 8,000 applications got rejected for various reasons and a total of 4,374 applications have been withheld for technical faults.
“A number of under-age candidates apply every year. We reject the applications where the applicants do not fulfil the minimum requirements regarding qualification and age,” said Prof. Mondal adding: “Incomplete applications are withheld. But this time, we want to provide applicants another chance to rectify their faults. If the applicants can prove with documents that they provided wrong information while filling up the forms by mistake, we will approve their applications.”
After checking the status of the application from the website, applicants can contact the regional offices within 4 July to get those mistakes corrected. WBSSC will issue admit cards from 9 July. Applicants would be able to download admit cards after 16 July, if they do not receive the same by post.
It may be noted, that among 55,000 vacant posts, a total of 49,500 posts have been newly-created, half of which are for post-graduate teachers while the rest are for pass-graduate teachers.
WBSSC will soon conduct an examination to fill up 668 vacant posts of headmasters and 81 posts of librarians, for which candidates can apply online from 4 July to 31 July.
