Mukesh Sharma| kalimpong: An Assamese couple were killed on the spot in a road accident around 4:30 p.m. along the NH31A, when a Santro car in which they were travelling bearing No WB 74N 1081, skidded off 350ft below the road at Riyang which falls under the Rambi Police jurisdiction. The deceased are identified as the Executive Engineer of the NE Frontier Railway, Debojit Bardolai and his wife. As per the Police information the couple was returning to Siliguri after meeting their daughter who is presently studying at the Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), Gangtok. The driver, RM Bardolai (also from Assam) has been referred to the North Bengal Medical College after the necessary first aid at the Rambi Primary HC.The Rambi Police reached the spot soon after the information and recovered the dead bodies. The post mortem will be conducted at the Kalimpong Sub- divisional hospital tomorrow and will be handed over to the family members thereafter.
