Darjeeling: Bollywood gets more superstitious, courtesy Ranbir Kapoor's Barfi!

Darjeeling/Mumbai: St. Paul's School in Darjeeling, the highest public school in the world, has time and again drawn many a Bollywood filmmaker as majority of the films with scenes shot at the school have gone on to become huge hits.

Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Barfi! is the latest addition to the long list of movies which have been shot in the sprawling boarding school. In the past two decades, the school has been one of the most prominent settings in films such as Raj Kapoor's Mera Naam Joker, Dev Anand's Guide and Rajesh Khanna-starrer Aradhana. In the new lot, one can see the boarding school in the backdrop of Saif Ali Khan-Vidya Balan starrer Parineeta, Shah Rukh Khan's blockbuster Main Hoon Na and the latest Barfi!.
Paulites, the alumnae of the school, have been discussing on Facebook the way their school has been shown in Anurag Basu's film.
"The school has been referred to as Muskaan school and I did not notice any credit given to St Paul's," Gaurang Jalan wrote on the school's Facebook page.
"Since the school is spread over a large area, authorities give permission to shoot in some portions of it. The shooting schedule used to be planned in such a way that it never interfered with school activities," Suvir Paul, a former student, said.
"I remember Pooja Bhatt visiting the boarding to shoot for some film. Since it was a boy's school, everyone became crazy to catch a glimpse of her," Paul recalled.
Bollywood film-makers have reportedly become superstitious about the boarding school and have been referring to it as a 'lucky charm'.
Other films shot at the school include Humraaz, Professor, Sagina, Do Anjane and Barsaat Ki Ek Raat.
