Nanita Gautam reasons out her resignation

Nanita Gautam, a founder member of the Kalimpong Gorkha Janmukti Naari Morcha and a member of the Naari Morcha Core Committee today publicly announced her resignation from the party. 

Gautam who had submitted her resignation to the party on April 02, 2013, while explaining her reasons for quitting the party said that she is facing health issues.“On top of that along with others I have been visiting the Court every 15 days a month regarding agitation issues”, she said.Further explaining other reasons Gautam said that after the formation of the Gorkhland Territorial Administration (GTA), she felt that the Gorkhaland movement is almost over. Having been a member of the Naari Morcha Core Committee, Gautam today said that till date she does not know what a core committee member is. “But I felt like a pendulum being in the committee. I could only give assurances to the public which did not satisfy me”, she added. Gautam further informed that she submitted 2 copies of her resignation on April 02 to the sub- divisional Secretary, Kumar Chamling.Recalling her days when she worked hand in hand with the Morcha, Gautam said, “I was linked with the agitation after a week since the GJM was formed. I partook in the fast unto death along with 9 others. I shall never forget all these”.“My husband too accompanied me in the hunger strikes during the time of agitation. We even received a citation from the GJM. The agitation memories were bitter and new experiences”, she expressed.Gautam also expressed gratitude to all those women who played a major role a Naari Morcha during the agitation and thanked her family, too. She also thanked those who helped the Morcha rally on October 31, 2007 at Motor Stand a successful one. She advocated that during her tenure in the Morcha she served selflessly for the public.Furthermore, Gautam appealed all the GTA Sabhasads to carry forward their responsibilities properly and to live up to the expectations of the people. Lastly, she clarified that she has no plans to join any other political party.
