DARJEELING, July 8: The families of around nine houses from different parts of Kurseong town on July 7 joined Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) even as tension prevailed among the supporters of GNLF and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha.

The supporters of the All India Gorkha League and the Morcha joined the GNLF, while the Morcha supporters took out a rally and also submitted a memorandum to the police officer in-charge there demanding that their supporters should not be harassed with raids being conducted for the Sitong-Latpanchar incident of June 18.

It may be recalled here that on June 18, a shop of a Trinamul Congress supporter was burnt and two TMC cadres injured in a clash with Morcha supporters at Selphu village.

“Today three houses from the Morcha and six houses from the AIGL joined our party and we welcome them,” GNLF spokesperson, Daya Dewan said, adding that more people were showing interest in joining the political outfit.

The GNLF, he said has been continuously holding indoor meetings in different parts of Kurseong sub-division.
