With the Centre remaining engaged in dialogue on carving out Telangana, a meeting of Federation for New States of India ~ an organisation championing the cause for smaller states has meet Mr.Digvijay Singh, General Secretary, A.I.C.C of Congress Party.
The delegation was led by shri R.K. Tomar, Working President, F.N.S ( Federation for New States) and shri Dawa Pakhrin President, G.R.N.M. Party from Gorkhaland . shri Kishore Singh and Deepak Nelewar from Vidarbha and Dr. K.K Upadhaya from Puravanchal Pradesh .
The delegation requested Singh to consider the demand of other states too and raise the issue in the next meeting of C.W.C
The Gorkhaland Rashtriya Nirman Morcha chief, Mr Dawa Pakhrin, was present there as a representative of the movement for Gorkhaland.
Mr Pakhrin informed that the representatives from Telangana, Bhil Pradesh, Purvanchal and many others from different corners of India were present to press for their respective separate statehood demands.
“The representatives said they would go for vigorous movements, demanding formation of several new states if the Centre decides to carve Telangana out of Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
“However, we feel the formation of a separate state of Gorkhaland is different from other statehood demands as because the national identity of the Indian Gorkhas is involved in it. This aside, this is the oldest statehood demand in the country,” Mr Pakhrin said.
He requested shri Digvijay singh that he was the one who passed the resolution for a new Chattishgarh State in the floor of the house of State Assembly during his tenure of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh after which it was been created. Now again after taking the in-charge of Andhra Pradesh State the demand of Telangana State is in very high pitch and any time decision on Telangana State is at the door so Pakrin on-behalf of Gorkhaland Task Force request singh to look into the Gorkhaland matter which is very genuineand 107 years old demand for which about 1200 hundreds people lost their lives since last 1980 to 2013 during Gorkhaland agitation .
He also aaded that The history of proposed Gorkhaland State is different from the West Bengal. It was never a part of West Bengal State and in the year of 1956 only it was absorbed in West Bengal as per Absorb Act Of 1956. Our linguistic, historical, Cultural and many more differences from the West Bengal so the Gorkhaland State should be declared along with Telangana State and if it is not done than situation of Gorkhaland area may not be control by the State Govt.
