Kalimpong,Pradip Lohagun: The
CPRM today alleged in a press statement the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha has
not right to demand for a separate Gorkhaland state alongside the
ongoing demand for Telengana.
Kalimpong CPRM unit president Kishore
Pradhan accused the GJM leadership of lacking in qualities exhibited by
the Telengana leaders. He said the leadership down south is honest,
committed, patient and exudes of complete integrity. “The GJM does not
have the right to claim statehood along with the Telengana leaders. The
people of Telengana have demanded statehood without getting distracted,
but leaders here are self-centred and first think for themselves instead
of the issue in question. Such leaders do not have the right to make
the demand for statehood or compare themselves with the Telengana
leaders,” opined Pradhan.
At the same time, the CPRM leader wished
godspeed to Telengana statehood, saying this would take the demand for
Gorkhaland a step forward. Comparing the two movements, he observed the
Gorkhas lack in strategy-making even as he appealed to the centre to
prioritise the Gorkhaland cause after a new Telengana state is created.
Pradhan went on to state, “At the
outset, we should push ourselves to the level of the Telengana leaders.
Everyone knows the centre is not going to accept the creation of two
states simultaneously.” He further rapped the GJM of not practicing
democratic values and differing in word and deed. “We will support the
GJM only if it boycotts the GTA. We will then look up to the party as an
organisation agitating honestly for statehood.”
Meanwhile, CPRM spokesperson Mohan
Paudyal voiced his suspicion on the renewed calls for statehood being
made by some vital affiliates of the GJM. “The GJM has brought forward
some of its important wings just to fool the people,” he alleged.
