Students
of Mirik College are happy with their new uniform. The college,
established in 2000, wants to portray a unique identity in the
Darjeeling hills and had adopted a resolution last year on the dress
code for students.
As many as 600 students from various
streams have welcomed the move. General secretary Vivek Tamang of the
college student union said 60% students have started wearing the
uniform. “We are happy about the announcement by the college
administration about the uniform code, even for those pursuing higher
education at the institution,” said some seniors.
While boys have a sky-blue shirt and
black pant, the girls have kurta suruwal of the same colour combination
as their respective dresses.(EOI)
