Nepal versus Nepal in Governor’s Gold Cup final 2013

34th All India Governor’s Gold Cup
Gangtok, 21 November
The final of the 34th All India Governor’s Gold Cup will witness Nepal versus Nepal in the field. In a semi final held today between Kalighat Milan Sangha FC and the Manang Marshyangdi Club, the latter secured a place in the final to battle against Three Star Nepal.
Manang Squads faced a tough competition with the Kalighat boys, as the first half was goalless. Supported by a huge crowd, the former succeeded in securing its place in the final as it won by a solitary goal.
The match witnessed a seesaw with both the teams looking equal in strength. Earlier, the Kalighat boys had trounced another Nepal-based club, Nepal Youth XI.
They today missed many opportunities that came their way, thus letting the two Nepal-based teams battle in the final. Manang’s forward, Leonel Stephen scored in the 89th minute of the play. Although Manang managed another goal in the extra/injury time for four minutes it was declared an offside goal. The Nepal-based team was declared the winner 1-0.
