Kurseong, 10 December: On one hand, the Trinamul Congress party is growing day by day in and around the Hills and on the other side its leadership is being fractionalised into different groups within the party.
It was learnt that the TMC youth leader from the foothillls, Mr Bishal Chettri, was reportedly given responsibility to look after the organisation in the Hills.
Talking to reporters, Mr Chettri claimed that he has been given the responsibility to spread the organisation across the Hills by the party stalwarts, Mr Mukul Roy, Mr Partha Chatterjee and Mr Saurav Chakraborty yesterday. Mr Chettri further informed that on 8 December a team of the TMC party from the Hills visited Kolkata to discuss on organisational matters.
He also informed that many GJMM activists along with GJMM panchayat members from Champasari Anchal as well as ABAVP workers have joined and accepted the TMC party flag from the hands of Mr Roy in Kolkata.
Mr Chettri further added that he has called a party meeting tomorrow at his residence, in which, all the party leaderships and activists have been called to attend the meeting.
“Several organisational issues and strategies will be discussed in the meeting to strengthen their party base across the Hills. We will go forward keeping in mind the slogans of peace, prosperity and development. Keeping in mind the 2014 Lok Sabha election we will activate likewise for a fruitful outcome," he said.
Importantly, there has already been a stir within the TMC party in the Hills chiefly between two powerful groups of Mr Rajen Mukhia and Mr Bishal Chettri and now these developments may create additional chaos within the party in the Hills.
The TMC activitists are confused who their boss is in the Hills.
Even Mr Rajen Mukhia had to organise a meeting to convince the Trinamul Congress supporters that he has been authorised to lead the Hill TMC to quell any confusion on reports of fractions within the organisation saying he has nothing to say against anyone, including Mr Bishal Chettri.
However, the party is already divided within two groups in the Hills but its group leadership does not want to admit to this as when questioned they keep saying that they are working for one party ~ the Trinamul Congress.(SNS)
