Siliguri, 11 December: The CPI state secretary, Mr
Manju Kumar Majumdar, said the situation in the Darjeeling Hills had not
been normalised. Mr Majumdar said the party might organise a meeting in
the Hills in February.
“The situation of the Darjeeling Hills has not been normalised. Many people have been arrested and some of them are still lodged at different correctional homes. People have grievances, so the situation has not been normalised," he said on the sidelines of the Darjeeling district party convention in Siliguri today.
Mr Majumdar said the party was planning to hold political activities in the Hills. “We are planning to organise a party meeting in the Hills in February and preparations have been started for this,” he added.The senior CPI leader also alleged that the ruling Trinamul Congress had been trying
to break the unity of the Opposition. sns
