The
Kaliaganj block Congress committee today conducted a workers’
convention at the Baghan Battali area under Bhandar GP -7. Many
heavyweight leaders of the party were present, including Raiganj
parliamentary constituency Congress candidate Deepa Dasmunshi, Pradesh
Congress leader Nirbed Roy, Raiganj MLA Mohit Sengupta and Kaliganj MLA
Pramath Nath Roy.
Branding the BJP as a communal party, Deepa said it will be catastrophic for the country if it comes to power at the Centre as it will fragmentise national unity. But the Congress is committed to fight for the unity and welfare of the nation, claimed the Raiganj candidate.
She also did not forget to condemn the Trinamool Congress-led state government over the TET and civic police recruitment scandals. Referring to the TMC’s ploy to field Pabitra Ranjan Dasmunshi, her brother-in-law, from Raiganj, Deepa said the ruling party will never win from the constituency despite its shady politics.
Further, she raised question about the validity of the Left Front decision to field veteran CPM leader Md Selim from Raiganj saying she was of the opinion that the LF would support the Congress to form the next government at the Centre.
The Congress candidate has vowed to start a mammoth movement to demand a super specialty hospital for Raiganj, which will be at par with Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences, once the polls are over. (EOIC)
