As the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak spreads in Africa, and there
was a scare in New Delhi when a person was suspected of carrying the
virus, the director of health services, West Bengal, Dr
Biswaranjan Satpathy, said he has asked the Darjeeling district chief
medical officer of health (CMOH), Dr Asit Biswas, to arrange for a
three-four bed isolation ward either in the North Bengal Medical College
and Hospital or the Siliguri district hospital.
“Though not a single case of EVD has been reported here, as part of
precautionary measures, I have asked the CMOH to arrange an isolation ward of three-four beds. This either can be set up at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital or the Siliguri District Hospital,” Dr Satpathy said. SNS
