The
members of Hills Handicap Welfare Association today met Kalimpong MLA
Dr. HB Chettri and made him aware about the different problems faced by
the differently-able people in the region. The members informed none of
the benefits meant for the differently-able people have been provided
and handed over a list of other problems faced by them to the MLA. The
members demanded Dr. Chettri to regulate 75% off provided to the
handicapped people for electricity and cooking gas along with special
allowance and facilities on both personal and governmental travels and
free health facilities among others.
HHWA president Chotalal Prashad said the government should also formulate a project to provide houses to differently-able people and proper education through a government scheme for their children. Dr. Chettri accepted the list of the demands and grievances from the association members and promised to place the demands in front of the government.(EOIC)
