Raimatang
unit of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha GJM celebrated Nepali Language Recognition day (Nepali Bhasa Manyata Diwas), organized an awareness campaign among the
locals about the importance of conservation and awareness of the
language among people. The unit leaders conducted door-to-door visit
across the Raimatang region and informed the people about Nepali language's recognition as one of the nationally accredited language.
Informing about the programme today, are GJM leader and panchayat samiti
member Amir Jimba said that despite the language being constitutionally
recognised by the Indian government 19 years ago there is lack of
knowledge and awareness about the language. “Therefore, it is important
we spread awareness about the language among the newer generation so
that its identity and beauty always remains intact,” he added. The
programme today was attended by various GJM leaders from the area
including Nari Morcha leaders Pushpa Lama, Kanchi Lama and Dewika Darji
along with other leaders.(EOIC)
