Adam's Apple wins  first in Hornbill International Rock Contest nagaland
Bands from Darjeeling and Sikkim have swept the Hornbill International Rock Contest held annually in Kohima, Nagaland, in December.
Adam's Apple from Darjeeling won the contest and a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. Nightmares from Sikkim and Muses of Authority from Siliguri were declared first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.
The first and second runners-up earned a cheque for Rs 5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh, respectively.
"It is a dream come true for us to win an international contest. The organisers had told us that around 5,000 bands had sent in their demos to participate in the competition," said Praggya Lama, guitarist of Adam's Apple.
While Praggya is the guitarist, Wangden Lepcha is in the vocals and Anil Pradhan is on the keyboard. Sawan Chettri as the bass guitarists and Ushang Bomzom in the drums complete the Adam's Apple line-up.
The Hornbill festival is conducted by the Nagaland government every year from December 1 to 10. The band contest this year was held between December 5 and 7.
