Siliguri Metropolitan police on Saturday night arrested five Nepali
nationals from the Pradhan Nagar area on charges of smuggling drugs
worth Rs22 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off, officials of the Kolkata-based Narcotics Control Bureau and 66 BSF battalion jawans launched a joint operation and detained the five suspects with a bag full of drugs.
The consignment was en route to Hong Kong through the Pradhan Nagar branch of a national-level courier service, said the police. They said the seizure includes 8.14kg of hashish, 40 grams of brown sugar, 140 grams of meticillin and 280 grams of cocaine. (EOIC)
