Actor Ranbir Kapoor is in Darjeeling again! This time for his upcoming film Jagga Jasoos.
Four years ago, Ranbir and director Anurag Basu had shot in the hill town for almost a month for their movie Barfi!
This time, it is a six-day schedule.
While Basu and some members of his cast and crew arrived yesterday, Ranbir reached today.
As the news of the actor's arrival spread through social networking
sites, around 300 people gathered at Bagdogra airport to catch a glimpse
of the star.
Dressed casually, sporting a cap and sunglasses, Ranbir walked out of the airport around noon amidst tight security.
While fans struggled to take his pictures and cheered, Ranbir spoke
to reporters for a few minutes before being ushered into a waiting
vehicle.
"It feels good to be back here again. This is the second time we are shooting here for a film after Barfi! So it feels good. We are hopeful that this movie, too, will do as Barfi!" he said.
Ranbir and Basu are jointly producing Jagga Jasoos under the banner of Picture Shuru Productions.
The actor reached his Darjeeling hotel around 3pm.
"Dada (Anurag Basu) has such a strong connect with Darjeeling that
every film he makes, he tries to have some schedule in Darjeeling. The
place is very calm, very beautiful and the people are very friendly. It
(the place) makes a great visual palette for the film ... and specially
the films Anurag Basu makes matches his vision," Ranbir said.
Asked if the combination of Darjeeling, Ranbir and Basu was lucky, he
said: "Luck is unknown and you cannot attribute it to luck. It is more
for the love of the place that we come here."
Barfi! was shot in different locations across Darjeeling,
Tindharia and Sukna in 2011 and 2012 and along with Ranbir, Priyanka
Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz were also here. The movie released in September
2012.
In Jagga Jasoos, Ranbir plays Jagga and Katrina Kaif is the leading lady.
"In the film I play the character of Jagga who is a student. The
school where he studies is a very important part of the film and it is
located in Darjeeling. That is why we have come here," Ranbir said.
The story revolves around teenaged detective Jagga who is looking for his father.
Shooting will be held in Bhutiabusty, St. Paul's School and Chowrasta in Darjeeling.
Mirik and Khairini Busty in Sukna are the two other locations outside Darjeeling where the film will be shot.
"The shooting schedule in the Darjeeling hills is for six days but I will be shooting for only four days," Ranbir said.(TT)
