Tingling landslide victims rehabilitation
The rehabilitation process for the Tingling landslide victims began today and they will be relocated in the land allocated by the tea garden at Section 10.
GTA sabhasad of Soureni, Arun Sigchi presented a sum of Rs1.60 lakh to each of the 23 houses that will come up as part of the rehabilitation process.
The initiative was taken by the United Tingling Victims Rehabilitation Committee. Present during the occasion were Singbulii tea garden head manager Satish Mantri, committee president Thomas Thapa, secretary Mani Rijal and other members. The victims have extended their heartiest thanks to the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration for its suppot. The transfer will be done in three phases.
"First, those who have lost their homes will be accommodated at the new location. Next will be the relocation of those whose homes were partially damaged. And in the third and final phase,  the remaining households will be moved,” Sigchi informed.
He added, “We don’t know what the government is doing, but the GTA has been taking effective measures to rehabilitate landslide survivors.”
The representatives of the five tea gardens of the area also assured of full cooperation.(EOI)
