Gangtok, February 22: A selection round of Miss Sikkim 2012 was held today at Smile land, Ranipool. A total of 29 contestants from across the state participated, among which three contestants will be eliminated today in selection round. Remaining 26 contestants will participate in the final round programme, scheduled to be held on February 24 in Hotel May Fair, Ranipool.Addressing the press conference today, one of the organizing committee members, Biren Tamang, Ckim Travels informed that participants for the said contest are excellent. Ckim Travels will be holding the event next year as well. “Beauty contest is not just a show, it is rather a kind of learning and knowledge gaining center”, he held. He went on to request the people of Sikkim to allow their kids to participate in such shows so that the competitive mindedness in them elevates and could face the world outside in every sector.Personality groomer Arun Dinesh from Bangalore, who has been grooming contestants for the show, mentioned in his address that all the participants are potentially rich and it seems that 90% of the participants were waiting for the opportunity since long. “Contestants are so talented that I had nothing to do. I am only adding fillers in them and making them professional”, he stated.The final selection round held today will also decide the winners of seven categories like, Ms. Beautiful Smile, Hair, clear skin and many more, though the names of winners will be declared only during the finals. Finally, only three contestants will be crowned during finals as winner, first runner up and second runner up. The finals will have a total of four rounds where the selected twenty five contestants will walk on ramps. These rounds consist of traditional round, evening gown round, summer collection round and spring collection round. Likewise, winner will also be sent to Miss Famina, East next year. The judging panel includes Former Miss Sikkim 1999 Mrs. Anu Pradhan, Fashion Designer Ms. Amanda Hymes, Pankaj Thapa, Prashant Rasaily, Roshan Rai and Pranjol Gogai.
