Kalimpong|Mukesh Sharma: The 131st birth anniversary of freedom fighter Jangabir Sapkota who is called as the Gandhi of the Hills was today observed at 9th Mile in Kalimpong. The day was attended by the representatives of the different political backgrounds, several social organisations and that of the Jangabir Sapkota Murti Nirman Committee. The day started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Principal of the Pranami Balika Vida Mandir. The Secretary of the Samiti, Binod Diyali gave away the welcome speech. The member of the Congress PB Ghatani and Surendra Pokhrel and the Samiti Vice President Bijay Sundas addressing the day informed that freedom fighter Jangabir Sapkota was born on 1882, who provided leadership to the Hills following Gandhiwadi. The programme was hosted by Harka Pariyar.
