Kalimpong|Mukesh Sharma: “Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) shall be kept far from corruption,” declared the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) Chief, Bimal Gurung while addressing the election campaign for the GJM candidate, Kazim Tshering Bhutia from the 33 No. Chibo- Tashiding Constituency. The Morcha Chief who has been conducting mass election campaign for the last five days in Kalimpong and has repeatedly been saying that GTA is for the people of the hills, yet again claimed that all the issues of the public will be solved through GTA. Today’s meeting held at the premises of Milan Club at 7th Mile will be the last election campaign by the GJM in Kalimpong.Mentioning about the Fact Verification Committee, Gurung said that they will explain all the details of the GTA to the Committee, so that most of the mouzas of the Terai- Dooars get included under it. The GJM Chief now remains hopeful that the Fact Verification Committee shall do justice unlike the High Power Committee. Appreciating the efforts of the MP, Jaswant Singh, who took the Gorkhaland issue to the Parliament, Gurung said that nobody before had done anything for Gorkhaland unlike Singh. Adding that GTA is the result of the prolonged struggle of the public, he said that the gates of GTA shall always be open to the public.Further, he said that in order to transform the hills into next Switzerland, allocation of funds are a must; hence in this process if there is any shortage of funds then the GJM may dismiss the GTA in the future. The GTA shall function transparently and will not be linked with the State of West Bengal unlike the Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council (DGHC). The public needs to understand that GTA is totally different from DGHC. “The GTA shall be run in a disciplined manner and further it shall carve way for the formation of Gorkhaland”, he claimed.Lastly, countering the oppositions, the Morcha Chief said that the opposition parties do nothing except passing lame comments on GJM and GTA. These parties should first look into what they have done till date for the betterment of the hills and its people, then only they should be commenting, he concluded.
