Baghpool at present is in a bad condition. The CPM party has demanded construction of an alternative bridge for the same. The party’s regional secretary, Tara Sundas has sent a letter on this regard to the Central Transport Services and Ministry, New Delhi, on behalf of the party.Sundas, today informing about it said that the CPM in the year 2010 had forwarded a memorandum to the Centre for construction of an alternative bridge from Sevoke till Mungpong. But, the Trinamool government at present is least interested, alleged Sundas. Baghpool, the 75 years old bridge incurred damages during last year’s earthquake. Load above 10 tonnes are not allowed, but the trucks ferry carrying more than that, he said.Further, he said that the Centre has released crores of funds for many large and small bridges. If an alternative bridge is not constructed then in the coming days situation may arise, he concluded.
