The
Epilepsy unit of the Kalimpong Sub-Divisional Hospital has been
observing the World Epilepsy Day on March 24 every year. Keeping the
trend alive, the unit today observed the international event at
Deshbandhu Chest Clinic here.
In the past, many people have lost their lives due to the disease and according to the town Epilepsy unit there are still few people who are affected by the disease. During the day’s programme, Dr. Ratan Chettri and senior nurse Sonam Choden briefed about the disease to Epilepsy patients from Kalimpong present at the event.
They urged the people with the disease to directly visit the government hospital for free treatment, instead of spending huge amounts at private institutions. Dr. Chettri claimed the treatment provided at the unit is in par with any private hospitals. Moreover, Epilepsy can be cured with a simple regime of medications, he added.
The patients present at the function today received free medicines, syringes and food supplements.(EOIC)
